TEXTO
Carmen Miranda, the famous "Brazilian Bombshell", was the daughter of a Portuguese traveling salesman. She became one of the highest-paid women in the United States, and died in 1955. More than her songs and more than her explosive energy, it was her clothes that caught the imagination of an era. Her fruitsalad turbans were truly modelled on those worn by Bahia peasant girls. Imitations of her platform shoes - three inches of cork plus six or seven inches of heel - can still be seen in most shoe shops today.
